TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
At the monthly meeting of the Timaru Townswomen’s Guild Mrs McAlister presided over a fair attendance of members. Congratulations were extended to the Music Circle for the very excellent programme submitted in October. The president asked that the Guild assist with the hospitality scheme for soldiers on leave and it was unanimously agreed to do this during March—as the rota was arranged till early in the New Year. The roll call, “A toy for hospital Christmas cheer,” was well answered, a large number of toys being collected. Many donations to provide further toys were received. A demonstration by Miss Palliser of icing a Christmas cake and the making of decorations was watched very attentively and Mrs Shaw expressed the appreciation of the Guild to Miss Palliser. The cake was the gift of Mrs Hunter and is to be used to augment the furnishing fund. Hostesses for the afternoon were—Mesdames Ramsay, Rendall, Ross, Pringle, Petre, Small
