MR J. WATSON By Telegraph —Press association MASTERTON, June 1. Mr James Watson, a former secretary of the Farmers’ Union in the ( Wairarapa for many years, died in the hospital last night, aged 57. MR A. DUNN By Telegraph - Press association WELLINGTON. June 1. The death is announced of Mr Alexander Dunn, who had been established in Wellington as t a solicitor since 1896, aged 66. Death from heart failure is announced of Lieutenant-General Sir William Raine Marshall, w'ar-time commander at Gallipoli and Mesopotamia. Sir William served in the Great War in France, commanding the Ist Sherwood Foresters from 1914 to 1915. At Gallipoli he was in command of the 87th Brigade of the 29th Division and was promoted to the rank of Major General to successively command the 42nd. 29th and 53rd Division. Sir William was also General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force. During his soldiering career he w r as twice wounded and had been promoted to Lieutenant-General.
