United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 31, 10.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 31 Following heavy fog, which blanketed the city and south-east Victoria this morning, rain set in, continuing throughout the day and evening. Flood warnings have been issued. So heavy tvas the fog that the Civil Aviation Department closed the Essendon Aerodrome, until 10 a.m. All the early suburban trains were late. Motor cars used their headlights. As the fog lifted, rain began spreading all over the State. Rain, at present, is not generally needed in the country. It may even do harm in some parts in preventing the sowing of crops.
