NATIONAL RESERVE
RETURNED SOLDIERS’ SUPPORT By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 31. The Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association met last night and passed a resolution supporting the Prime Minister’s appeal for recruits to the defence forces. Members stressed the fact that the Association had each year passed a resolution urging the need for adequate defence and consequently it was gratifying to learn that the Government had taken action. The resolution stated that while it was realised that volunteering was a matter for the individual, the executive urged all ex-servicemen to support the Association by responding to the appeal, and pointed out that the training and experience of returned soldiers would encourage the service of younger men, who were just as anxious as returned soldiers for adequate defence. Enrolment, one member said, would give returned men a chance to become a real “Digger” once more.
