Senator Pieriot, the’ Catholic leader who has been appointed Prime Minister, announces that he has not changed the foreign policy. He proposes to reduce civil service wages and pensions, excepting war and old-age pensions, by 5 per cent. He will also tax monopolies. Yesterday it was announced that the Catholic leader, Senator Pieriot, had formed a Cabinet, of which he himself will be Prime Minister. Other posts were allotted as follows: M. Soudan (Socialist), Minister of Foreign Affairs; M. Gutt (non-Parliamen-tarian), Minister of Finance; M. Marek (Christian Democrat), Minister of Public Works and Transport; M. Denis (non-Parliamentarian), Minister of Defence. M. Denis and M. Marek are the only members of the former Cabinet included in the present Ministry.
