ON THE ISLAND OF FUNEN.— Enclosed between the Great Belt and the Little Belt and sheltered by Jutland is the island of Funen. This island is so fertile that it is known as the “Garden of Denmark.” The island is just as famous for its historic interest and its mediaeval buildings and is a popular resort for tourists. One of the show places on Funen is the magnificent old Renaissance Castle of Egeskov. The castle is in a splendid state of preservation and is set in beautiful grounds.
