OPTICIANS CONFER
WELL ATTENDED CONFERENCE

WELLINGTON, February 24.
Prominent Australian opticians will be invited to attend the next annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Opticians which will be held in Wellington, probably in February, 1940. The decision to hold the conference in Wellington and to invite overseas opticians was made at the annual conference of th Institute in Wellington to-day. There was one of the largest attendances at the conference for many years, nearly 50 dolegates being present, and members said to-day that the attendance next year would probably be even larger. Mr H. F. Deverell was elected an honorary member of the Institute in recognition of his work during the early days of the organisation. The following officers were elected: President, Mr R. Brooke-Taylor; vicepresident. Mr G. E. Cox; treasurer, Mr H. S. Gilberd; secretary, Mr L. A. Notley; executive committee, Messrs E. A. Sargent. W. T. Wilson, E. R. Boyd, R. T. Shanks, F. O. Davis (all of Wei. lington), C. Martyn (Auckland), and L. N. Medlin (Dunedin); executive representatives, Messrs L. A. Andrews (Waikato), R. C. Bailey (Palmerston North), B. M Bennett (Napier), A. H. T. Rose (Christchurch); librarian, Mr G. L. Cox.
