Signor Mussolini telegraphed to General Franco emphasising Italy’s enthusiasm over the superb victory at Barcelona, and anticipating an early completion of the conquest, and new era for Spain. General Franco, replying paid a tribute to the magnificent Black Shirts, who with Spanish comrades wrote a glorious page against international Communism. “BRILLIANT VICTORY” HERR HITLER’S MESSAGE TO GENERAL FRANCO United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph -Corr—‘*rht BERLIN, January 27. Herr Hitler has sent a telegram to General Franco: "Congratulations upon your brilliant victory, and the liberation of Barcelona. I hope your victory will soon bring peace to the Spanish people, and begin a new area for National Spain.” Czech Recognition A message from Prague states that it is officially announced that the Czechoslovakian Government is recognising General Franco, and breaking off relations with the Republicans. Reaction in Belgium It is reported from Brussels that M. Polaln has been appointed Belgian Representative at Burgos. The Republicans are also resuming relations with Belgium, by the nomination of a Charge d’Affaires.
