SOCIAL NOTES

Miss Alma McCallum, Sefton Street, is a visitor to Christchurch for the races.

Mr and Mrs L. S. R. King who have been spending a holiday in the North Island have returned to Geraldine. Mrs L. A. Mason who has been visiting Christchurch on holiday has returned to Geraldine.

Mrs G. Webster and Miss Margaret Webster, Nelson Terrace, will leave today to spend a week at Tekapo. Mrs Marshall, who has been staying with Mrs Colin Marshall, Nile Street, returned yesterday to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Wilfrid Sim, who have been spending a few days at the Grosvenor returned yesterday to Christchurch.

Mr and Mrs A. Vincent and Miss Vincent, Wilson Street, have returned home after spending a holiday in Dimedin.

Mr and Mrs O. M. Hope who have recently returned from England are staying with Mrs A. Hope, “Tumarako,” Wai-iti Road. They Intend returning to their home in Hamilton next week. The engagement is announced of Dorothea, youngest daughter of the late Mr W. C. Howden and Mrs Howden, Cumberland Street, Dunedin, and William Frank, second son of Mr and Mrs W. F. Averts, James Street, Timaru.

Mr and Mrs W. H. Price, Wellington, who are visiting Christchurch for the races, Intend to leave in March for a trip to England, returning at the end of next year. At the end of December, Mr Price will retire from the Union Steam Ship Company, after 50 years’ service.

A quiet wedding took place yesterday morning at St. John’s Church, Highfield, when Grace, daughter of the late Mr T. R. Mackay and Mrs R. Mackay, Wai-iti Road, was married to Everton Morrison, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs W. H. Hobin, Waipawa, Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs H. Coxhead, Beverley Road, entertained Mr and Mrs G. L. Almond, Nelson Terrace, at a very enjoyable Mah Jong party at their home on Tuesday night. The guests included Mr and Mrs G. L. Almond, Mr and Mrs M. A. Raymond, Mr and Mrs G. Innes-Jones, Mrs J. Henshaw, Mrs R. S. Goodman, Mrs R. T. Turnbull and Miss Marion Cray.
