Apples from New Zealand which Dr. L. M. King, of Rangiora, bought while he was in Britain would have tasted better and looked more attractive, he said, if they had not been bruised. Every apple he bought while abroad was bruised, he said, so that he had to cut part of the fruit away before he could eat it. Whether the bruise on the apples was caused through careless packing he could not say, but he noticed, he said, that apples from Canada and South Africa were in the same condition. In his opinion investigations should be made by New Zealand producers to try to prevent the bruising of their fruit.
