STRIKE SETTLED

IRON WORKERS TO RESUME EMPLOYMENT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 8, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 8. The Lysaght strike has been settled and work will be resumed immediately. A strike of seventy workers in the pickling department of Lysaght’s galvanised iron works at Newcastle led to the closing of the mills indefinitely from November 5. About 1500 men were rendered idle. The pickling strike arose out of a claim by the men that the seniority principle should have been observed when the men were put off.
