SLIGHT INCREASES IN UNEMPLOYMENT British Official Wljplpsf (Received November 8, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, November 7. The Ministry of Labour estimates at September 17 show the number of insured persons ta employment in Britain at about 12,294,000 —23,000 more than a month before, but on a comparable basis about 210,000 less than a year ago. At the same date, the registered unemployed totalled 1,781,227, comprising 1,408,932 wholly unemployed, 307,947 temporarily laid off and 64,348 normally in casual employment. This was 17,301 less than a month before, but 390,978 more than a year ago. The total included 1,318,428 men, 51,996 boys, 358,269 women and 52,539 girls. Industries ta which the principal increases in employment occurred, compared with a year ago, are cotton and building.
