COST OF CRISIS
MAURITIUS REPLIES TO WAR OFFICE United Press Association—rßy Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 8, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 7. Mauritius, an outpost of the Empire, is still unaffected by the turbulence of world affairs. The War Office during the week-end communicated with all stations instructing them to report immediately on the expenditure incurred as a result of the crisis, and how such expenses were incurred. Mauritius replied within a few hours: “Our expenses 232 pence; cost of replying to your telegram.”
