POWER BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the South Canterbury Power Board was held yesterday. Present—Mr G. Dash (chairman), Dr. P. R. Woodhouse, Messrs R. L. White, A. N. Oakey, F. J. Cook. J. R. Hart, W. Scott, A. W. Buzan, K. Mackenzie, C. E. Kerr and S. I. Fitch. On the recommendation of the General Committee it was decided to inform the Washdyke Crown Tenants’ Association that the Board were unable to alter their decision regarding the due date for payment of accounts to coincide with the payment of cream cheques, and suggested that application be made to the dairy company for a change in the date of payment. The engineer reported that an agreement had been made with the Hume Pipe Company for the supply of current to the company’s works at Washdyke. The chairman mentioned that it had been stated at last meeting that prices charged by private traders for installation and other work at Geraldine were excessive. A case had been investigated and it was found that the price worked out exactly twopence less than what the Board would have charged. There was no evidence that the charges were not what they ought to be.
