GERALDINE WEATHER RECORDS
October Rainfall Heavier Than Last Year Rain fell on eight days during October, a total of I.7sins being recorded compared with ,97ins registered in October last year. Figures supplied by Mr B. R. Macdonald, “Waitui” show the heaviest fall of 65 points on October 23. Other points registered were seven on the 3rd, 20 on the 10th, 10 on the 15th, three on the 16th, 30 on the 22nd, 20 on the 27th and 23 on the 31st. After a brief spell of spring weather conditions changed and the new month was ushered in with rain. Up till 9 a.m. yesterday 34 points were recorded and a cold southerly rain fell throughout the day. The following t ble makes an interesting comparison:—
VITAL STATISTICS HEAVY DEATH RATE Six deaths occurred at Geraldine st month compared with one of the corresponding period last year. The vital statistics as supplied by the Registrar (Mr L. S. R. King) show the number of births in October to be seven, the same as were registered in that period last year. Three marriage licenses were Issued last month compared with one in October of last year. NOTES The Rangitata Rifle Club’s dance and presentation of trophies which was to have been held to-night h-.s now been postponed to November 17, owing to a bereavement in the district.
