CURE FOR MASTITIS
USE OF SULPHANILAMIDE Miraculous results are claimed by an American Guernsey breeder from the use of sulphanilamide, with which Professor Oscar Erf, of the Ohio State University, has also been having good results. Writing in a breed journal, this dairy farmer and breeder, after emphasising that sulphanilamide is a dangerous drug, deadly to human and animal life when not competently administered, says that it is a great benefit to the harassed dairymaq. The writer points out that during the course of treatment no other medicine of any sort should be given, as sulphanilamide forms poisonous compounds. Professor Erf points out that little has yet been accomplished in treating old and chronic cases where there is walled-off or scar-tissue in the udder, but that in cases of new and acute streptococci mastitis sulphanilamide is most effective.
