COAL STRIKE
HOPES OF SETTLEMENT CONFERENCE ARRANGED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 29, 1.43 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 28 An unexpected development in the coal strike to-night, affording bright hopes of a settlement, occurred when representatives of the Miners’ Feleratlon and other unions requested the Minister of Labour (Mr Mair) to convene a conference of the parties in the dispute in the hope of effecting a settlement. The Minister promptly agreed to a conference which will be held in his office next Tuesday.
