Negotiations regarding the Pacific air service arc progressing exceedingly favourably announced Lord De La Warr in the House of Lords. He added that the service would be from San Francisco, or Vancouver, to New Zealand. The passengers would then change to a special service operating between New Zealand and Australia. “We have reached the point of settling terms with the two Dominions concerned,’’ he said, "but the stopping places have nut yet been settled.” FIRST CALL ON SPACE AUSTRALIA’S AIR MAIL ARRANGEMENTS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph - Copyright (Received June 16, 11.10 p.m.) CANBERRA. June 16. “Australia's air mails for England will I have the first call un the space in flying-boats, when the new Empire service is inaugurated next month.” said the Minister of Defence (Mr Thoily' to-day. He added that the Quantas Airways had contracted to carry all available Australian mails., and so long as they fulfilled their obligation, they were entirely free to make contracts with other parties for the carriage of mail and other freight. The Minister said that if the New Zealand Government wished to ship mails to Australia for transport by air to London, it would have to make its own agreement with the company, and the carriage of those mails would be dependent upon the flying-boats capacity to take them, after providing for the Australian mails.
