In recognition of his approaching marriage, Mr C. Adamson was recently entertained by 20 friends and presented with a set of dishes. Mr A. Freine presided at the evening, and speakers included Messr H. Weis’- F. M. Geaney, W. J. Whitehead, W. Cordes and A. Pryde.

Miss E- Ackroyd, who is to be married to Mr R. Cadenhead, was the guest on Wednesday night at an evening held by the boarders and staff ol the Fairlie Hotel. Mr J. P. Cunneen made the presentation, which included cutlery and a dinner set. Other speakers were Mrs H. C. Manaton and Messrs C. Eilis (Timaru). A. Pryde and F. Styles.

The residents of Kimbell are callinc a meeting to be held at Kimbell on Monday night next to form a footbaU club for the district.
