TAXATION RELIEF PROMISED

LABOUR’S PROGRAMME IN QUEENSLAND United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright BRISBANE. March 10 The Premier of Queensland (Mr W. Forgan Smith) in a policy speech said that Labour, if returned to power, would exempt from the relief tax all incomes up to £2OB a year, reduce the tax on higher incomes, and remove unnecessary burdens in income taxation. The Government would collaborate with the Commonwealth and other State Governments to give effect to its objective of a 40-hour week with a maximum of 44 hours. The Premier added that employment was now at the highest level ever recorded in Queensland and provided export prices did not sag, the State would be better off than it had been for 12 years.
