REV. C. CARR'S BROADCAST REMARKS
To the Editor of “ The Timaru Herald ” Sir—Will some of your readers kindly inform me whether they also heard our Timaru member, publicly insult us in the House of Representatives, when broadcasting to the whole of New Zealand over 2YA on the night of the eighth inst. I seemed to hear Mr Cansay that Timaru appeared to have a great number of people who belonged to the class of "one born every minute.’’ This style of denunciation of his own electors leads me to believe that. If Mr Carr expects to get away with this sort of thing, then, he must be assuming a rapid rise in the birth rate of "mugs,” to at least “two born” every minute in Timaru before he can hope to be returned at the next election. As an ordinary average ‘ citizen of Timaru I object most strongly to Mr Carr publicly belittling our community, even if he does hold that opinion himself.—l am, etc., PUBLIC PROTECTOR. Timaru, March 9.
