ROWING

TIMARU CLUB The W. J. Clay Challenge Cup was won by J. Ford (s> and F. Wright from J. Lennon (s) and P. Wright, by two and a half lengths. The final of the W. J. Evans Memorial Double Sculls was rowed off in a choppy sea. The crews, H. Tapp (s) and P. McCambridge and C. DeClifford (s) and R. Barnes, got away from a good start. Tapp had a lead at the harbour mouth, but DeClifford sprinted and gained an advantage of a length. With a great effort, Tapp forged to the front and won by a length.
