PLEASANT VALLEY
SUCCESSFUL DANCE The Pleasant Valley Hall was filled to capacity on Saturday night when a dance was held under the auspices of the Orari Bridge and Pleasant Valley Tennis Clubs. The arrangements for the dance were ably carried out by a sub-committee comprising Miss J. Ford, Miss T. Brophy, Messrs E. Webb and J. Leary. During the evening those present were thanked for their generosity which had helped to make the dance such an outstanding success. Competitions were won by Miss E. McClean and Mr J. McDonald. Prizes for novelty dances, four of which were given by Mrs H. Bailey and Mrs G. Bailey, went to Mr T. Hughes and Miss M. Warne, Mr H. Mclntosh and Mrs Kirkpatrick, Mr John South and Miss K. Stevenson, Mr W. Payne and Miss Burrows, Mr and Miss E. Padgett. Music was supplied by an orchestra, extras being played by Miss Trumper, Mr J. Kerr and Mr D. Heney. Mr R. Tindall was master of ceremonies. Among those present were Mr and Mrs W. Crotty, Mr and Mrs F. Kelly, Mr and Mrs R. Murphy, Mr and Mrs Tindall, Mr and Mrs Smith, Mr and Mrs Alan South, Mr and Mrs J. Padgett, will return to Christchurch to-day. Mrs Lenihan, senr., will leave shortly for the North Island.
