WEDDINGS
BURNS—HOLLAND On Saturday last at St. John’s Church, Highfleld, Joyce Helen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs T. H. Holland, Wilson Street, Timaru was married to Sydney Lawrence, youngest son of Mr J. Burns and the late Mrs J. Bums, Temuka. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Nelson Wright. Miss Rudge officiated at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock and scalloped coatee of pink cloque, with new neckline and tiny buttons to the waist. The skirt, flared at back, fell to the ankles. A halo hat to match was worn and she carried a bouquet of pink and cream roses, abutilons and fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Dorothy Laurenson, a niece of the bridegroom wore a pretty frock of blue Swiss muslin and a bandeau of blue flowers on her hair. She carried a bouquet of blue poppies and delphiniums and pink sweet peas.
Mr R. Bums was best man. The guests were entertained at the Bay tea rooms. The bride’s mother, Mrs Holland, wore a saxe blue coat over a floral frock and a hat to match. Her shoulder spray was cream roses and abutilons. The bride’s going away dress was a brown tunic coat and skirt, lemon blouse and brown halo hat.
MARTIN—O’SULLIVAN By Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, November 23. A son ol a Minister of the Crown was married at Blenheim this morning, when Mr James Allworthy Lee Martin, youngest son of the Minister of Agriculture, was married to Miss Dorothy Eileen O’Sullivan, Blenheim. The bridegroom is Fields Inspector in the Lands and Survey Department at Hamilton, and the bride was a typist in the State Advances Oilice, Blenheim.
