GERMAN CONSUL
VISIT TO SAMOA By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, May 18. The German Consul for New Zealand and Samoa, Dr. Walter Hellenthal, arrived at Auckland by the Matua after paying his first visit to American Samoa and the Mandated Territory of Western Samoa, both of which are included in the area for which he is responsible. Dr. Hellenthal left Wellington a month ago by the Maul Pomare for Apia. He was the guest of the ActingAdministrator, Mr A. C. Turnbull, for the period of his stay, in the course of which he took part in the Coronation celebrations, held a reception at the German Club and laid wreaths upon the monuments over the graves of the German, British and American seamen who lost their lives in the native war in 1899. Later he was conveyed by an American warship to Pago Pago, where he was entertained by the Governor. Although Dr. ilellenthal spent a month on the trip, and his stay in both territories lasted a fortnight, he left for Wellington by to-night’s express.
