WRESTLING
TIMARU ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Timaru Wrestling Association was held last evening. Present: Messrs J. W. Souter (chairman), W. W. Best, R. McGlashan, M. P. McKenna, C. Campbell, W. A. Davie, R. Taylor, J. Dineen, J. J. Stewart and M. J. Angland (hon. secretary). The match committee reported on arrangements made regarding the Stein and Mclntyre bout to be held to-night. The New Zealand Wrestling Union wrote regarding the Olympic rules governing amateur bouts. Mr McGlashan suggested that the match committee visit the four training schools and explain to the instructors and wrestlers the alteration in the rules. On the motion of Messrs Best and McKenna it was agreed that the coirrc’ttee visit the training schools. The New Zealand Wrestling Union wrote advising that the nominations of Messrs M. P. McKenna (professional bouts) and C. Campbell and W. W. Best (amateur bouts) as referees had been approved. The New Zealand Wrestling Union wrote asking for support to the King George Memorial Fund. Members were unanimous that a donation of £l/1/- be made and that a further consideration be given at next meeting. To-night’s Tourney. The match committee reported that the following amateur bouts had been arranged as preliminaries to the SteinMclntyre contest: R. Strang (Timaru) and T. Todd (Pareora), P. Stevens (Timaru) and P. Dwan (Temuka), C. Clark (Timaru) and A. Anderson (Temuka), R. Depree (Timaru) and A. Keen (Timaru).
The finance committee reported that excellent booking had so far been received. The committee recommended that the theatre doors be opened at 7 “9..
The committee’s report was adopted The following officials were appointed: Referees, professional bout Mr M. P. McKenna, amateur bouts Mr C. Campbell; timekeepers, Messrs R. McGlashan and L. E. Eaton; announcer, Mr W. W. Best; official seconds professional bout, Messrs R. Walton and R Watt; competitors’ stewards, Messrs Dineen, Triggs and Segar; house stewards, dress circle, Messrs J. Stewart, Halpin, J. Elder, W. Weston, L. Ennis; stalls, Messrs Davie. Shea and J. Toneycliffe; ringside, Messrs G. Bowen, W. Andrew, R. Seaton and J. Duncan.
