The Lyttelton Harbour Board’s contribution to the King George V memorial fund was increased from £lOO to £lOOO at this morning’s meeting of the Board. The decision to make a grant of £lOO was made at the previous board meeting, but the matter was raised again to-day. On the agenda paper appeared the significant note: “The Lyttelton Borough Council has voted £lOO to the fund; the Wellington Harbour Board has voted £3000.” The matter was discussed while the board was in committee, members mentioning the excellence of the form which the memorial was taking, and commenting on the generosity of other local bodies, especially the Wellington Harbour Board. A GENEROUS GESTURE By Telegraph—Pres« DUNEDIN, May 5. As a result of a generous gesture by the employees of a large manufacturing firm in Dunedin, the King George V memorial fund for the establishment in the Dominion of permanent health camps for children will benefit by £6O or £7O. The firm has decided to close down for Coronation Day. On being advised of this decision, the employees at once signified their desire that half of their wages for that week should be contributed to the fund. TIMARU SUBSCRIPTIONS
