Good Scoring Fourball.
In the Glen-iti v. Waimate match played at Glen-iti during the weekend, the best ball of each pair in a fourball, after the completion of nine holes, was 39 (one over par), but the home pair was still two down on the visitors. At the conclusion of the game on the 16th green the best ball was, four under par. The home pair managed to keep the game alive from the 13th by returning two “birdies" and phenomenal golf would have been necessary to register a win. During the day’s play one Glen-iti man registered three “birdies” on Dynamite, which is played four times in a 36 hole round. • • • • Handicaps Reduced Golfers in the Temuka district are already showing improvement and several have reduced their handicaps, among them being T. B. Edwards, the new club captain, A. D. Dodd, S. C. Glew and H. C. Hitchcock. To assist in a further improvement arrangements have been made for the coach. K. C. Williams, to attend at the links on Saturday next. Temuka Fairways A distinct improvement is stated to be already noticeable on the Temuka links, where the addition of a mower for the fairways has been made to the club’s equipment. For Coronation Day the club is arranging for competitions for both men and women. Nearly, But Not Quite! A trophy hat been presented at Glen-iti this year to be awarded to the first player to return a card revealing three birdies. J Menzies, junr. went very close to collecting it. His card included two of the required variety and he was in sight of the third when a missed short putt intervened.
