LOSS OF BRITISH AIR-LINER
CRASH IN SNOWSTORM IN GERMANY THREE OCCUPANTS FOUND DEAD United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 17, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 16. The Imperial Airways liner Jupiter crashed near Memmingen (Germany) and caught fire. The only passenger and all the crew are dead. They are:— Mr Wooley-Dodd, European manager of Imperial Airways, the passenger. Captain Holmes, the pilot. Mr Langman, the wireless operator. The Jupiter was engaged in the night service from Croydon to Cologne. The machine left Croydon at 9.30 p.m. yesterday and the last wireless message from it was received at 11.18 p.m., when it reported that it was flying over Belgium. The wreckage of the Jupiter was found by a wood-cutter in the Treat and he raised the alarm. The pilot apparently was forced down by a snowstorm. The ’plane hit a large elm and was broken to pieces, and the trees were set on fire.
