TENNIS CLUB At the annual meeting of the KingsdownTennts Club Mr F. D. Gillespie presided over a fair attendance of members. The fourth annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The report showed a satisfactory credit balance of £4/14/41. The club membership was ’3 seniors and two juniors. Sincere thanks were extended to club members, vicepresidents and others for the support they had given during the 1835-36 season. The election of oflicers for the ensuing year resulted.—Patron, Mr M. Coughlan; president, Mr F. D. Gillespie; vice-presidents, Miss R. Bee, Messrs H. Anstey, M. Daniel, S. Davison, R, Campbell; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss M. M. Coughlan; committee, Mrs Gillespie, Miss E. Rooney, Messrs P. Rooney. V. Coughlan; club captain, Mr H. Aitken jnr. Opening day was fixed for October 10, when it was agreed to hold a yankee tournament commencing at 1.30 pin. Subscriptions will remain the same as last year. CRIBBAGE EVENING A cribbage challenge match arranged by the Pareora East and Kingsdown School committees was played at the Kingsdown School and prov-d a very su-cessful function, almost 50 attending. Both districts were well represented, and after a most interesting and enjoyable evening’s play Kingsdown proved the winners by 128 points to 121. The prize winners for the evening w’ere. Women, Mrs A. G. Pratt (Pareora) 1, Mrs A. Henderson (Kingsdown) 2. Men, Mr P.' Rooney (Kingsdown) 1, Mr A. Jones (Pareora) 2. Mr Simmons, Kingsdown, welcomed the Pareora visitors. Mr P. A. Coote, Pareora, replied thanking the Kingsdown supporters tor the enjoyable evening. A return match will be played at a later date. PERSONAL Miss Jessie Ivey, Kingsdown. has returned home from an extended holiday in tlie south. Mr and Mrs A. G. Pratt. “Beach House," Pareora East, are leaving on a holiday visit to Palmerston North on Saturday. Mr and Mrs J. R. Trimble. St. Andrews. leave on annual vacation in the south on Friday.
