TRADERS PROTEST

APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT tsv Tehuraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, September 24 An appeal to the Government to protect private traders in Te Puke against competition by a co-operative dairy company, was contained in a signed statement to the Industries and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives. It was supported by Mr Jamieson, a member of the Borough Council, who said that the Council was seriously alarmed about the possibility of such trading reducing the rateable value of land in the borough. Mr Jamieson expressed the view that dairy factory trading should be restricted to manures, farm implements, arid seeds.
