The Minister of Transport announced tb-nlght that, following the recent road safety conference held in Wellington, he had selected the personnel of the proposed road safety council s follows :-r Mr W. A. O’Callaghan, North Island Motor Union. Mr J. S. Hawkes. South island Motor Union. , Mr C. J. Talbot, counties. Mr M. F. Luckie, municipalities. Mr J. F. Cousins, New Zealand MbtOt Traders’ Federation. Mr F. C. Spratt, New Zealand Alliance. Mr G. B. Ashbridge, New Zealand Educational Institute. Dr. J. W. Mcllraith, Education Department. Mr J. Wood, Main Highways Hoard. Mr J. H. Ferram, State Fire and Accident Office. The Commission of Transport. Mt Semple said the personnel had been drawn from many walks of ’.fe and he anticipated that the council would prove a valuable organisation in advising the Government on the problems of road safety. "No time will be lost in getting the council to work. There is a lot to be done, and I propose calling the first meeting of the board in the middle of the month. As Minister of Transport I will preside at most of these meetings wlienevery possible.”
