SOCIAL EVENING
COMBINED BIBLE CLASSES The Geraldine Presbyterian combmed Bible classes entertained a large number of friends at a social evening in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday. The Rev. W. J. Couling welcomed members of the Hilton, Woodbury and Temuka classes, and of the Methodist and St. Mary’s Church Clubs, who were present as guests. Games, competitions and community singing were enjoyed and at the conclusion of the evening the leaders of the visiting classes and clubs returned thanks for the hospitality accorded them.
"ROBERTA” Spectacular new dance routines, lovely melodies and brilliant fashions are introduced in “Roberta," RKO Radio’s picturisation of the Jerome Kern musical “hit,” coming to the Municipal Theatre to-night and tomorrow night. Irene Dunne, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers play the leading roles. The gay and tuneful story centres about the intriguing subject of love in a Paris gown shop. As the picture takes nearly two hours to screen, patrons are advised to arrive early.
