HOCKEY TOURNEY
GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED Splendid entries for the annual tournament to-morrow were reported at a combined meeting of the Geraldine County Hockey Sub-Association and the Referees* Association held on Wednesday evening. The president of the Sub-Association (Mr H. J. Bowkett) occupied the chair. Present — Messrs W. A. Sherratt, Z. O. Sherratt, C. C. Knight, J. Henry, C. S. Davies, A. G. Bryant, and T. J. Paterson (secretary). The secretary of the South Canterbury Hockey Association (Mr W. Gow) notified that the Association had confirmed September 5 as the date of the Geraldine tournament. It was decided to play the men’s matches on the Domain Oval and the women's matches on the Hockey Club’s ground, all the finals to be played on the Oval. The offer of Mr C. C. Knight to admit winning teams to the Municipal Theatre free of charge, with concessions to all hockey players, was accepted with thanks, the matter of issuing passes being left to the secretary. It was decided to invite the Mayor (Mr B. R. Macdonald) to present the trophies. The following officials were appointed:—Controllers, No. 1 ground, men’s senior and Junior, Mr Z. O. Sherratt; No. 2 ground, women’s senior and junior, Mr J. Henry; team stewards, No. 1 ground, Mr G. Watts; No. 2 ground, Mr J. Slattery; timekeepers, Messrs J. Mcllroy, T. Twigg and J. Campbell; judicial committee, Messrs H. J. Bowkett, W. A. Sherratt, Z. O. Sherratt and J. Henry. It was decided to commence play at 12.30 p.m., and that the charge for admission be adults 1/-, children sixpence. The following team will represent the Geraldine Football Club in the senior hockey grade:—A. Vincent, W. Angland, P. McShane, A. Loach and K. Loach.
