GLOVE LEADS TO ARREST United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright ST. JOHN, January 8. A glove picked up near the scene led to the arrest of Arthur Bannister, charged with slaying Philip Lake, his wife and children. > The police state that the men fought over Mrs Lake.
After the husband had been clubbed, the woman, who was half clothed, was chased through the snow, and was killed with a club. The babe in her arms was frozen to death.
An earlier cablegram said: Footprints in the snow are the only clue to the slaying of Philip Lake, his wife and two children. The house was set on fire to hide the crime. An armed posse of settlers is searching the woods. The woman was dragged half a mile before being killed.
