RICCARTON NOTES

FINAL GALLOPS Special to “ The Timp.ru Herald" CHRISTCHURCH, November 7.| Mixed conditions, mostly wintry, were experienced for the final gallops at Riccarton this morning. Proceedings opened with a half mile sprint. Paper Slipper finishing several lengths in front of Wild Chase, in 48 3-ssec. This was easily the best effort of the morning. Fracas covered a mile in lmin 46see, Bunfight taking lmin 46 2-ssec. Hororata, with Sky Pilot for the last six, occupied lmin 35 l-ssec for seven furlongs. Rival Shot beat Astraea over half a mile along the back in 52sec. Cuddle, Walton Park and Sunee were companions ip a mile and a quarter gallop. They went off at a strong pace, with Cuddle in front, and she continued to show the way till a furlong from home, when Walton Park gradually moved up, being on terms with Cuddle at the winning post, Sunee being several lengths back. The last mile occupied lmin 50 2-ssec, and the last half mile 56 4-ssec.

Slasher beat Tail Light over seven furlongs in lmin 37sec. Dawning Light sprinted half a mile in 52sec.

Kowtow led Cerne Abbas in a run down the straight. Kamal Pasha covered a mile in lmin 48 3-ssec.

Tooley Street and Hunting Bag took lmin 34 2-ssec for seven furlongs. Girl Guide had Glowlight as a mate for a mile in lmin 51sec.

Going Gay and Ayresleigh ran six furlongs in lmin 21sec. Fersen and Lowenberg went well to register lmin 30 2-ssec for seven furlongs. Seafox and Rebel Star beat McHeath over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec.

Dollar Prince took lmin 19 2-ssec for six furlongs. Bereft was to have brought him home, but broke away too far in front, running half a mile in 55sec.

Heritage and Vanestep ran a mile ip lmin 47sec, finishing together. Princess Doreen and Haut Monde beat Big Dook over six furlongs in lmin 21sec.

Joyous and Rose of Tralee did six furlongs in lmin 19 3-ssec. Document gave Custos a start and ran three furlongs up the back in 40sec.

Caliente strode over five furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssec, the last half mile in 52sec. She was walking quite soundly before she went out, and she moved freely in her work. Chaste covered a mile in lmin 49 1- while Penelope took lmin 37 2- for seven furlongs. A Good Effort Vintage and Kiltowyn were sent a mile and a quarter. They were travelling at a strong pace from the start, with Vintage in front. He continued to show the way round to the straight, where Kiltowyn, under pressure, gradually overhauled him, finishing a neck in front, though Vintage seemed to be doing his work well at the post. The last mile was run in lmin 48 l-ssec, and the last half in 54 l-ssec. Tout le Monde and Gay Crest took 7min 7 2-ssec for the last five furlongs of their work.

Invoice and Silver Jest sprinted half a mile in 51sec.

Kotou took lmin 34 2-ssec for the last seven furlongs of a mile. Cheap Money led Sisterina over five furlongs in lmin 6 4-ssec. Acceptable was given a sprint down the straight.

Jolly Beggar and Glenavon took 53sec for half a mile, time which Princess Rawene equalled alone. Bc:i Tray beat Rose Val over five furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec, Superex and Alma following in lmin 4 4-ssec. Myriam covered six furlongs in lmin 21 2-ssec,

Manetho sprinted half a mile along the back in 53sec, Grand Review runring home in 52 2-ssec. Steeton went at an even pace while doing a mile in lmin 51sec. Folydora caught Southdown in the last stride of six furlongs, run in lmin 19 2-ssec.

Courtyard and Doctor Duthie ran half a mile in's3 2-ssec, Madam Pompadour doing 53 3-ssec along the back. Chidden covered a mile in lmin 49sec beating Orris over the last six furlongs. Grey Honour did five furlongs nicely in lmin 7 3-ssec. Travenna took 54 3-ssec for half i

mile and Tizzy did useful work down the straight. Mount Val led Riposte over six furfurlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec.

Silver Sight had Quietly as a mate in an evenly-run mile, in lmin 51sec, Greek Shepherd and Sky Rover following ib lmin 49 3-ssec. Guarantee and Tuirau went off slowly from the mile and a quarter. T'med from the mile post, they ran home in lmin 51sec, the last half in 56see, Guarantee was in front most of the way, winning by a length. Golden Dart and Back Lead took lmin 40sec ,for seven furlongs, a performance equalled by Gold Cross and Riptide. Hine Ra took 54sec for the last four of seven furlongs. Argentic and Haere Tonu were in close company all through a mile in lmin 46 4-ssec. The pace was even throughout, and it was a good gallop. Rebel Chief and Davolo ffid the last four of five furlongs In 52 3-ssec.

Pelmet had Dover Patrol as a mate for half a mile In 52sec. Tunneller and Latitude ran seven furlongs in lmin 37 3-ssec. Silver Streak and Knockfin were to have run five furlongs, but the hailstorm upset the plans. Silver Streak went off alone, taking lmin 7 l-ssec in the worst of the storm, while Knockfin went later in lmin 4 2-ssec. Cranford had Concert Pitch as a mate for an easy five furlongs in lmin Bsec. Red Sun (C. Thompson) and Arctic Star (D, Bush) jumped the two brush hurdles twice. Black Duke (W. J Pascoe) and Joppa (G Barr) went over them once, while Noctumus (A. S, Ellis) and Monastic (G. Barr) also schooled. All the horses jumped well and afterwards did strong work on the flat.
