PLUNKET SOCIETY

TIMARU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Timaru Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday. Present: Mesdames L. M. Inglis (in the chair), C. Hall, W. Hall, R. T. Turnbull, H. J. Brewer, F. J. Mottram, C. S. Marshall, G. D. Virtue, J. A Miller, H. H. Dobie, D. B. Shand. Accounts amounting to £6l/9/10 were passed for payment, including £ll/17/4 levy towards the superannuation fund. A letter was received from Mrs Jas. Wilson, tendering her resignation from the committee. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mrs Wilson for her valuable work, and expressing rgret at losing her as a member, >n account of ill-health. In connection with the recent cabaret, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr D. Davidson, Mr C. Pateman, Mr Gibson and Miss N. Hogg and donors of the supper and flowers. It was decided to send letters of appreciation to Mrs C R. Orr-Walker for arranging the flowers, and to Mr D. Unwin who gave invaluable assistance in organising the cabaret, which had proved a great success. Preliminary arrangements were discussed for Rose Day to be held this month, and each member was asked tc be responsible for four cakes and donations towards the produce and seedling stalls. T; secretary was instructed to send a letter to Mr E. Fuller expressing the committee’s regret at his impending departure, from Timaru, and wishing him success in his new sphere.

One baby suffering from indigestion was sent to Karitane Hospital Dunedin with his mother. The general health of babies and children had been very satisfactory.
