FARMER’S DEATH
TRAGIC END TO SEARCH FOR NEPHEW By Telegraph—Press Association DARGAVILLE, May 15. Tragedy for one of the party ended a day’s search for the body of a youth named Cameron Cuthbert, who was drowned in the northern Wairoa River on April 28 when a canoe capsized. The party had been out from early morning and had made an extensive search, returning at 8 o’clock. On landing, James Condon, an uncle of the drowned youth, suddenly expired. Mr Condon, who had been searching continuously since the accident, was a farmer about 60 years of age, and an old resident of the district. In the early days he kept a large livery stable and ran the first horse bus service between Dargaville and Te Kopuru. Recently he was engaged in farming. He is survived by his widow and a grownup family. An inquest disclosed that Mr Condon had had a strenuous day. He complained of heart pains in the afternoon but recovered for a time. A verdict was returned of death from heart failure.
