DOMINION CONFERENCE By Telegraph —Press Association MASTERTON, May 14. The Dominion conference of the Church of England Men’s Society opened in Masterton to-day, about 25 delegates from various parts of New Zealand besides many from Wairarapa district, being present. The proceedings opened with a devotional service in St. Matthews’ Church in the afternoon, conducted by Archdeacon A. L. Hansell. This evening a Procession of Witness was held at which an address was given by Dr. Cherrington, Bishop of Waikato, followed by a service in St. Matthew’s, the speaker being the Bishop of Waiapu. MASTERTON, May 15. At the business session of the Church of England’s Men’s Society, the following officers were elected: Vice-presidents: Archdeacon J. D. Russell (Oamaru) and Mr J. Snell (Wellington); Dominion secretary, Mr R. Liggins (Wellington); Dominion council, Revs. F. C. Long (Wellington), G. C. Blathwayt (Wellington), E. J. Rich (Masterton), A. J. Beck (Auckland), Messrs H. B. Robb (Wellington), D. Hay (Auckland), E. Hale (Masterton), and A. E. Robinson (Carterton); Central executive, Rev. F. C. Long and Mr J. Snell. A resolution was passed urging the clergy to do all in their power to encourage the formation of branches in their parishes, while a further clause suggested that each branch appoint at least one of its members to assist in the formation and resuscitation of other branches. At an open meeting in the afternoon, the Bishop of Waikato spoke on the need of fellowship and Mr R. McL. Ferkins (Wellington) on the need of workers. This evening a public meeting was addressed by the Bishop cf Nelson, and Mr W. Nash,. M.P., Wellington. on the challenge of to-day to the individual and to the Church.
