WOMAN’S DEATH

VERDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. Joseph Frederick David Clarkson was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury at the criminal sessions of the Supreme Court to-day. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of killing Adeline Mary Bradley on March 17, 1935. at Christchurch. Clarkson had been intimate with Bradley on the night of March 17. He helped her to use an instrument, after which she died of heart failure. The case for the Crown was that the instrument had been used for an illegal purpose. For the defence it was suggested that Clarkson acted innocently with the intention merely of relieving the girl from pain. The jury’s verdict carried a recommendation to mercy. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.
