SPECTACULAR RUNAWAY By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND. May 12. After being carried more than a quarter of a mile clinging to the reins of a horse that had bolted with an Auckland City Council dray, James Duncan Court, aged 44. married, was thrown heavily in Freman’s Bay and suffered concussion and abrasions. The horse took fright and bolted in Wellesley Street West. Court was unable to reach the animal’s head, but he succeeded in gripping the reins and threw himself over the near side shaft. In this precarious position the horse carried him full gallop down Wellesley Street and along Halsey Street. The reins Court was holding snapped when the dray was nearing Fanshowe Street, and the driver was thrown violently on to the concrete Road. His condition is fairly serious. Freed of all restraint the horse continued its career and turned into Fanshowe Street atfer evading several men who attempted to stop It. Near the premises of the Kauri Timber Company, one of the employees was more successful. He seized the animal’s head and brought it to a standstill after being dragged a little distance.
