CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. There has been very little movement in the potato market this week. The heavy supplies that have gone north by recent ships have reduced the Auckland inquiry to a minimum. There is a shadp of easing locally. Prompt whites are stil quoted £5/10/- f.0.b., s.i., with very little business, but Dakotas have eased to £5/7/6. For May-June delivery there are offerings at £5/15/-, but there are very few buyers at this figure. The on-truck price averages from £4/2/6 to £4/5/- a ton. Fowl wheat remains at 4/35 for “free” and 4/4 for board whpat. The. oats market is unaltered, but there Is very little business doing. A Garton’s are quoted at 3/2 a bushel for s.i. There is no change and, so far, no export inquiry in partridge peas. Market quotations to farmers are 6/a bushel. The small seeds market is unaltered.

DUNEDIN By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, May 10. The milling wheat market is unchanged. Fowl wheat is in short supply and supplies are being drawn from northern centres, where the equivalent of the f.o.b. price of 4/4 a bushel is being paid. Adding railage and other charges, the cost to local feeders is fairly high. Little business is being recorded in the oat market either for shipping or millers requirements. To-day's shipping prices are 3/3 a bushel f.o.b. s.i. for A Garton’s and 3/- for B’s. Equivalent values in the country are round about 2/10 and 2/6 respectively. Supplies of chaff are being drawn from Canterbury. Locally chaff ex truck is worth £5 a ton with £5/5/being asked for lots ex stores. Potatoes are selling on the basis of £5/15/- a ton ex store. Chewing’s fescue is to-day worth 1/11 per lb and brown top 2/-. Prices of cocksfoot and perennial and Italian ryegrass remain steady but there has been a distinct easing in the cowgrass market.
