THE CHURCHES

TO-MORROW’S SERVICES The services in the Bank Street Methodist Church will be conducted by the Rev. W. E. Moore, of Geraldine, who will preach at 11 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Reference in the morning to the King’s Jubilee. Mr Moore will preach at Claremont at 2 p.m. The observance of Mothers’ Day is postponed until next Sunday. At Chalmers Presbyterian Church the morning service will be a special service in commemoration of his Majesty the King’s Silver Jubilee. In the evening the Rev. Llywelyn Williams will preach on “Patriotism—Good and Bad."

The services at Trinity Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. A. J. H. Dow.

The services in the Congregational Church. North Street, will be conducted by the Rev. J. Milbum Stewart. At the morning service an address in commemoration of Mothers’ Day will be given. The evening service will take the form of a thanksgiving service for the reign of King George. The services at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. James Baird. His subject at the Silver Jubilee thanksgiving service in the morning will be “The King." His subject in the evening will be “The Great Imperialism.” National thanksgiving Sunday will be observed at the Baptist Church, when the Rev. J. Russell Grave will preach at both services. The services in St. Mary’s Parish will be as follows:—Holy Communion at St. Mary's and St. John’s at 8 a.m., St. Michael’s and Washdyke at 9.30 a.m., and at St. John’s at 11 a.m. There will be family eucharist at All Saints’ at 9.45 a.m., and Matins at St. Mary's at 11 a.m. Evensong will be sung at St. Mary’s, St. Peter’s, All Saints’ and St. John’s at 6.30 p.m.

At the Salvation Army at 11 a.m., Adjutant Dick will conduct a thanksgiving day service. At 3 p.m. a Mothers’ Day service will be held, and at 7 p.m. a Mothers’ Day service will be conducted by Captain A. Hawkey. The Gleniti School service at 3 p.m. will be taken by Mrs Adjutant Dick. “Adam and Fallen Man” is the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, tomorrow. The Golden Text is: “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3: 14. 15.) Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon are the following: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (St. Matt. 5: 48.) “Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to Him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick.” (“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.)

At Woodlands Street Methodist Church, Mothers’ Day will be observed at the morning service. In the evening a jubilee service will be held. The preacher at both services will be the Rev. H. L. Fiebig. Service will be conducted at Waimataitai by Mr W. Beswarick and Mr J. Chiles. Afternoon worship will be conducted at Fairview by the Rev. H. L. Fiebig.
