LIGHT FALL IN THE WAIRARAPA
By Telegraph—Press Association MASTERTON, February 7. After a prolonged dry spell light rain, with some heavier showers, set in this evening. The district is feeling the effects of the drought rather severely, a shortage of water being experienced on some farms and also in the town of Featherston, where a street delivery system has been instituted. Grass and bush fires have also been prevalent and caused considerable anxiety and a certain amount of damage. Hopes are entertained that the rain will continue, although so far it is not heavv enough to give adequate relief. The change in the weather is most welcome. as the temperature is now much milder after several scorching hot days, the reading on Monday being 9l.2deg.
London people who use tramcars are very careless. Officials pick up every year 50,000 articles which have been dropped in these cars.
