NEEDS OF FARMERS

HIGHER PRICES AND STABILISED MARKETS By Telegraph—Press Association FEILDING, February 6. For “Peoples Day” of the Feilding A. and P. show there was a large attendance. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, who arrived by aeroplane, officially opened the show. He said that the Dominion’s life depended on the export of primary products, and he reviewed th policy adopted at Ottawa, which was to increase trade within the Empire. Farmers required higher prices and stabilised markets in order to meet their obligations both internal and external. The whole question of restrictions or levies on our exports would be reviewed this year. The question of the adjustment of costs also required to be reviewed. This meant that they would have to reorganise the whole of the rural finances of the country, and this would be discussed within the next few weeks. Mr Coates left by aeroplane for Wellington.
