RESCUE EFFORT FAILS By Telegraph—Press Association HAMILTON, February 6. While swimming in the Waikato river near the traffic bridge at Hamilton late this afternoon, Leslie John Lovegrove, aged about 20, got into difficulties and was drowned. Francis Cassidy, who noticed Lovegrove’s plight, swam out to him and held him up, but subsequently he lost his hold and Lovegrove disappeared. The body was recovered an hour later by the police.
