SEQUEL TO PETERSEN’S DEFEAT BY NEUSEL CHALLENGES FREELY ISSUED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrlgh t (Received February 6, 7.25 p.m.) LONDON, February 5. Len Harvey and George Cook have challenged Walter Neusel and Eddie Phillips is challenging Jack Petersen for the Empire heavyweight title. Larry Gains is ready to fight either Petersen or Neusel. “Pa” Petersen says: “It is all ‘boloney’ to say Jack’s career is finished. I have four fights fixed already.” Petersen's share was £3500, Ncusel's £2500. Petersen’s eye is improving and did not require stitching. Neusel is willing for a return fight with Petersen. “The Daily Mail” says: “The defeat by Neusel cost Petersen a prospective fortune of £50,000 and relegated him to the stragglers’ class, as regards the world title, because Neusel was more severely battered in August by the long-deposed ex-champion Schmeling than by Petersen last night."
