WILL OF MR J. BUTLER By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 15. Under the will ot Mr Joseph Butler, formerly managing director of the Kauri Timber Coy., Ltd., at Melbourne, charitable bequests and gifts to organisations are made. For probate purposes the value of the estate has been sworn at under £38.000. In addition to a large number of private bequests, Mr Butler left £2700 to be distributed as follows: £ Auckland Club 500 Auckland Infirmary 500 Manurewa Children’s Home .. .. 500 Westland Hospital, Hokitika .. .. 500 Butler Bros., Ltd., Ruatapu .. .. 500 Grey River Hospital, Greymouth 100 .Royal N.Z. Yacht Squadron, Auck. land 100 The purpose of the bequest to Butler Bros., Ltd., Ruatapu, is to promote social life or improve the social conditionstions of the employees of the company. Mr Butler died in London at the age of 72. Coming to New Zealand as a young man, he settled on the West Coast, and was subsequently identified with timber interests in Westland and Northern Wairoa. He was managing director for New Zealand of the Kauri Timber Coy. For 13 years before his appointment to Melbourne in 1927 he was president of the Auckland Club.
