Consistency Rewarded. Proceedings opened with the customary mile and a half race for trotters, in which Nell Volo 1426, Teviot Downs 1104 and Sea Gift 926 were entrusted with the bulk of the pool. Cannonball broke at the start and jazzed for a couple of furlongs, and Nell Volo threw away a couple of seconds before she settled to work. Teviot Downs led round the first bend from New Metford, King’s Voyage and Sea Gift, and at the mile post Teviot Downs was three lengths in advance of New Metford, who was two lengths ahead of Lough Guy, King’s Voyage and Sea Gift.
