RADIO CLUB NOTES
Hon. Secretary and Treasurer— D. W. Beswick, 197 Otipua Road. At the last meeting a very interesting impromptu debate was held, the subject being:—“Has the Radio Club lost its usefulness?” Many were the points raised for and against and humour was not lacking in some of the members’ views. An hour thus spent went all too seen and the judge, on summing-up, decided that the negative side had won. Taken all round many interesting things came to light and, outside of the fact that the negative won the debate on points, it also proved that the Club was a benefit to listeners. Commencing this month Club meetings will be held monthly for the next four months, the next meeting to be next week. The report of the Hospital Committee is very favourable, and shows a great improvement in the Hospital system. The main set supplying the wards has been shifted from the administration buildings to the Nurses’ Home, the overhead wire necessary to couple the supply to the site of the new supply —approximately 300 feet—has been installed, also a new aerial. No 5 and 6 by-wards have had the headphones screwed into the plugs, thus making it impossible to remove them from the wards. The inner sections of these wards were previously without ’phone plugs, but nine phones have been fitted, and some adjustments made to the wiring.
